Chittagong Port is Bangladesh’s main port for handling most types of cargo. Located 15km far from the open sea. The port is situated on the banks of the Karnaphului River.

CPA – Chittagong Port Authority anchorage area is divided into three areas which are as follows: Anchorage “A” – Suitable for any type of vessel more than 10.0M Draft. Anchorage “B” – In between “A” and “C” for vessels scheduled to enter port jetty within 24 hours. Anchorage “C” - for lightering vessels and others not scheduled to enter within 24 hours.

Summary: Maximum size, Channel LOA 190m., Draft 9.5M (FW) For Bulk / Breakbulk/ Tankers. Depth 38.0 m for GAS Tanker.

Draft restriction at Kutubdia and Customary, anchorage or berth restriction,

If the vessel draft is more than 11 M FW then she has to lighten some quantity of cargo at Kutubdia anchorage (available draft is 14 M) to achieve a suitable draft of 11.0 M FW. No restriction on LOA/Beam/Air Draft at Kutubdia. Discharging done by ship’s Crane + grabs by STS operation.

There is no congestion to arrive any vessel at Kutubdia and customary inner anchorage (A,B,C)
The vessel can make direct berthing upon arrival by achieving a permissible draft.
The vessel can arrive at Alpha/Bravo anchorage and sail only on the high tide of the day.


About Payra Port in Bangladesh.

The Port of Payra is a seaport located at Kalapara in Patuakhali, Bangladesh. It was established by an Act of Parliament in 2013. The port was officially inaugurated in 2016. It is located on the Ramnabad Channel near the Bay of Bengal. The port is undergoing expansion and the project is completed in 2021.
